Google Local or Google Maps is a powerful and essential place for your business to show up especially if you primarily sell in a geography. Most businesses are 3 mile, 8 mile and 15 mile businesses. That is their customers buy from businesses either 3, 8, or 15 miles from their home or office. Local is great!

Most businesses are local businesses. They sell to people in their immediate few mile ares. Years ago, I worked for Jewel Food Stores in Chicago. Grocery Stores are a 10 mile business. People want to shop at a store no more than 10 miles from their home and only want to make right hand turns. We plotted out where our customers live for hundreds of stores. It was amazing to see psychology at work.

For your business, Google local may be very important. Getting a listing is FREE (my favorite price). I see many Google local profiles completed poorly and the businesses don’t take full advantage of this powerful advertising. Most commonly, people look at the Google Local listing and either look for driving directions to a business or visit their website.
